About Cornell Notes
The Cornell note-taking system was developed in the 1950s by Walter Pauk at Cornell University. It divides the page into three sections: a narrow cue column on the left for keywords and questions, a wide note-taking area on the right, and a summary section at the bottom.
How to Use Cornell Notes
- Notes Column: Record lecture notes and key points during class
- Cue Column: After class, write questions and keywords that relate to the notes
- Summary: Write a brief summary of the page in your own words
