OKRs vs a generic goal list

Objectives describe where you want to go in plain language; key results are the measurable outcomes that prove you got there. This worksheet keeps both on the same row so reviewers can see whether each key result ladders up to an objective or is secretly a task dressed as a metric.

Use Target and Current for numeric or milestone-based KRs. Status can be a color, a percentage, or “on track / at risk / off track” — whatever your team already says in standups.

Good key results sound like…

  • Outcomes (“reduce churn to 2%”) rather than outputs (“ship the feature”).
  • Few KRs per objective — usually two to four — so the period feels focused.
  • Honest Notes when scope shifts mid-quarter; the printout becomes institutional memory.

If you only need quarterly themes without KR detail, our quarterly goals sheet is lighter. For delivery execution, pair OKRs with a weekly status report.
