Designing clues that work for every age
Younger players need concrete objects (“something red,” “a dandelion”); older teams can handle riddles or photography challenges (“a shadow that looks like an animal”). The Hint / area column keeps adults from hovering — it narrows the search zone without solving the clue aloud.
The Found column is intentionally small: a checkmark, initials, or sticker dot is enough. If you run timed rounds, note the finish time in Notes instead of crowding the main grid.
- Match difficulty to your youngest player so nobody sits out.
- For public spaces, add a safety line (“stay on marked paths”) in the subtitle area.
- Pair with a simple board game for mixed indoor/outdoor parties.
