What belongs on a working setlist?
Beyond song titles, working bands track keys and BPMso subs and techs can prep patches before line check. The notes column is for talk-box cues, banter breaks, medley transitions, or "capo 2" reminders — anything the next person on stage needs at a glance.
Order and energy arc
Most sets climb toward a peak then cool down for the encore plan. Number every slot so you can reshuffle on the fly — if you print multiple copies, mark one "MASTER" so the drummer's coffee-stained version doesn't become truth.
Roles beyond the stage
- FOH engineers use BPM and key for gain structure and monitor sends.
- Wedding bandleaders match keys to vocalist comfort — note transpositions from the recording.
- DJs note energy and genre in the notes field when the title alone doesn't tell the vibe.
