What is a lead sheet?
A lead sheet combines melody or lyric cues with chord symbols so a singer and accompanist can perform without a full piano reduction. This template gives you repeating chord rows (lighter dashed guideline) and lyric rows (firmer ruled line) so handwriting stays aligned when you perform from a music stand.
Chord notation habits
Write Nashville numbers, Roman numerals, or letter names (Cmaj7, F♯m) — keep font size consistent so quick changes are readable. Align chord changes roughly above the syllable they belong to; use carets or arrows if a change lands mid-word.
When you still need other templates
- Blank chord diagrams for exact fingerings, especially in teaching studios.
- TAB paper when rhythm and string-specific voicing matter more than lyrics.
- Staff paper with bar lines if you are notating melody in standard notation alongside chords.
Printing for rehearsals
Print extras for bandmates, hole-punch for binders, or keep a scanned PDF on a tablet. Darker line colors improve contrast under stage lights; lighter gray feels easier on the eyes for long writing sessions.
