What are valentine card box and mailbox templates? Valentine card box templates are print-and-cut decorations for a shoebox or cereal box classroom mailbox — a 12 × 3 cm slot plate, a swinging flag, a banner, a 'Mail for' name plate, hearts in three sizes — plus a small stand-alone mailbox net with a slot in its curved roof.

How to make valentine card box and mailbox templates: Choose a template and theme, type the name for the plate, download the PDF, print on cardstock, cut the pieces, have an adult cut the box slot through the plate opening, and glue the panels onto a wrapped shoebox; for the mini mailbox, fold the ends up, curve the roof strip and glue the tabs.

The classroom Valentine box, and what the teacher actually needs

Most US elementary schools send home the same note in early February: decorate a box with a slot, put your name on it, bring it in for the class card exchange. The two things teachers ask for are a slot big enough for a card and a candy (a lollipop or a fun-size bar stapled to a valentine will not fit through a 2 cm letterbox) and a name that can be read from across the room so twenty-five children can deliver quickly. That is why this generator does not print a box at all — the box is the shoebox, cereal box or tissue box you already have — and prints the parts that are hard to freehand: a slot plate with a 12 × 3 cm opening that doubles as the cutting guide, a name plate with your child's name set in bold and auto-sized to fit, a banner, a flag that really swings up on a brad like a US curbside mailbox, and a sheet of hearts to cover the rest.

Which box: a shoebox is the sturdiest and opens from the top, so the slot goes in the lid and the cards are easy to tip out; a cereal box is taller and stands on a desk like a real mailbox but needs the slot cut into a side panel and the top taped shut; a square tissue box already has an opening — enlarge it to the 12 × 3 cm slot and you are done in five minutes. Whatever you use, cut the slot before decorating: tape the cut-out plate in place, score the four sides lightly with a craft knife against a ruler (an adult's job), then cut through on the second pass; corrugated card tears if you try to force it in one stroke. Wrapping the box in plain paper or paint first gives the printed pieces a clean background — white or kraft paper under red hearts photographs well — and glue stick or double-sided tape keeps the panels flat where wet glue ripples them.

The card-eating monster is the version most kids pick once they have seen one: googly eyes above the slot, a row of teeth round it, and a "FEED ME" banner — the slot becomes the mouth, which also helps classmates find it. The space theme is for the child who has decided hearts are babyish; stars and a dark blue or purple box still read as a valentine box on the day. The mini mailbox netis a different object: a stand-alone tunnel-top mailbox about 10 × 7 × 6 cm inside, with a slot in the curved roof, a door outline on the front and a tiny flag. The roof strip is exactly 26 + π·36 + 26 = 165 mm so it wraps the two round-topped ends without a crease; it holds classroom valentines, folded notes and candy, and works as a dinner-table "mail" box for family notes or an office desk box for a Valentine card exchange among adults.

None of this is single-use. Print the banner template with a different name and the heart sheet in team colours for a birthday card box, a retirement or get-well card collection at work, or a wedding card box; the slot plate and flag are theme-neutral in the classic colour. Build the box itself from the gift box templates, drop mini envelopes inside for the cards, add a pop-up card for the teacher, and seal the candy with treat bag toppers so the exchange is finished in one sitting.
